For coaches A homepage that sounds like you, not every other coach. You know your work. You know your people. Lanlan helps you say it on a page that feels yours — built around your niche, your voice, your rhythm. Start your site See how it works The shape of it Four stops, in plain language. No design vocab required. You bring what you know about your practice. Lanlan does the rest — and asks back when something isn't clear. To make this concrete, take Maya — a fictional somatic coach for therapists. She's a composite, not a real person. Here's how the four stops would look for her. 01 Share who you serve The first message is just you, in your words. Who you work with, what you help them with, how you want them to feel. A sentence or two is plenty to start. Don't have it all figured out? That's fine. Lanlan will ask. M Hi! I'm Maya. I'm a somatic coach for therapists — people who hold a lot for others all day. I work with body-based practices and breathwork, and the pace is slow on purpose. I want the site to feel grounded and warm — not clinical, not yoga-studio. People should be able to exhale a little when they land on it. Maya's whole first message. No prompt template, no setup. 02 A first homepage lands A few minutes after your first message, you have a real homepage — a live URL you can open on your phone and show your friend. maya-cole.lanlan.site SOMATIC COACHING · ESTABLISHED 2022 A grounded practice for somatic work. Body-based coaching for women in the helping professions. Slow, embodied, deeply attuned work. Book a Discovery Call → Maya's first draft. A live URL, sent within minutes. Not quite right yet — but enough to react to. 03 Refine in plain language Tell Lanlan what's off. No technical or design expertise needed. Things like: "The headline feels passive — make it more active." "Soften the green. I'm thinking seafoam, not forest." "Put a photo of me here, with a short bio next to it." "This whole section feels generic. Cut it." Lanlan changes it and shows you again. Repeat until it feels like yours. M I love the shape of it. But the audience is wrong — it's therapists specifically, not "women in helping professions." And the headline feels generic. Can it be sharper? Something about holding. And — I don't think the green is working. It's a little gym-locker. C Yes. Naming therapists directly. Most somatic sites go green, which means yours would blend in. Want to try clay instead? It's warmer and a bit more unexpected for the category. New headline draft: "A practice for the people who hold a lot." M Oh. Yes. That's it. maya-cole.lanlan.site SOMATIC COACHING FOR THERAPISTS · BERKELEY A practice for the people who hold a lot. Body, breath, slow. One-on-one work for therapists who need their own ground. Start a Conversation → M About Former licensed therapist. Twelve years of clinical practice before training in somatic experiencing. Tools to use between sessions, especially on hard days. Slow pace. We move at your nervous system's speed, not the schedule's. Working Together The 12-week container Six sessions, every other week. One-on-one. By referral or after a short call. 1:1 Quarterly small group Six therapists, four months, a different angle each time. Waitlist open. Group After a few rounds. The version that ships. 04 Or — bring in the Design Team If you'd rather slow down before any pixels move, ask for a design consultation. Lanlan brings in three or four AI specialists , each thinking about your business from a different angle — brand voice, audience, visual direction, conversion. They push back on each other and ask you questions before a single thing is built. Good for the moment your gut says: "I want to think first." V Voice specialist Maya — when you say "grounded," is that a word you'd use with your clients, or about them? It changes whether it shows up in the headline or stays a feeling underneath. A Audience specialist I want to push on who walks in first. Are these therapists already in burnout, or therapists who want preventative work? The headline reads differently depending on who shows up. M Hm. Honestly — both. But the burnout ones come first. The Design Team pushes back on each other — and on you — before a pixel moves. Older MCP clients on stdio need a transport bridge — most are on HTTP now. the escape hatches Five questions every other platform ducks. If you ever want to leave, here's exactly what that looks like. Answered honestly, including the question with the awkward answer. Can I export my sites? Yes. get_site_files returns every file. One bash loop and you have a folder of HTML/CSS/JS on your machine. No proprietary block model to translate. The bytes you wrote are the bytes you get back. The shape of an export — this is pseudocode for now. A real REST export endpoint is on the way; today this runs through your MCP client. # pseudocode — the MCP equivalent today, REST export coming for path in $(lanlan list-files --site $SITE); do lanlan get-file --site $SITE --path $path \ > "./export/$path" done Are the files mine? Yes. They're HTML, CSS, JS, and your media in standard object storage. Same shape any static site host expects. Drop them on Vercel, Netlify, S3, your own server. They work. Can I keep my domain? Yes. When you register_domain through Lanlan, the registration is in your name (or your client's) at the registrar. We're not the owner of record. To leave, you point the DNS somewhere else. We don't hold it hostage. Can I self-host the engine? Not today, honestly. The engine is small — a few thousand lines — but it's tied to Cloudflare's edge in ways that make a one-button self-host non-trivial. If you're a team with a strong reason to host it yourselves, write to us. We'll have a real conversation. What if Lanlan goes away? You keep what you built. Sites keep serving for the duration of the CDN cache. After that, you have your files (export above), your DNS (in your name), your Stripe account (in your client's name), and your form submissions (export them via the dashboard). No platform can promise to exist forever. We can promise that the day we stop, you don't lose your work. We want you to stay because the product is good, not because leaving is hard. The receipts hold up. Want to build? Two lines of config and you're connected to the engine. Both of you, at different stages. While you're building. Free covers it — 10 sites on *.lanlan.site . You only pay when you (or the client) want a custom domain, Stripe payments, or the badge gone. After you transfer ownership. The client owns the site, on their card, on their Pro subscription ($15/mo per site). Transfer is a first-class operation — no platform fees, no Stripe Connect routing, no shared subscription state. The clean handoff. Post-transfer, their billing applies: their card, their domain, their dashboard. You're not on the hook for their renewal. They're not on the hook for yours. Two people, two cards, one site that travels cleanly between them. the upgrade triggers Specifically, here's what costs money. Custom domains require Pro. Free is *.lanlan.site only. Removing the Lanlan badge requires Pro. Stripe payments & donations on the site require Pro. Multiple collaborators and unlimited scheduling, waitlists, and live data require Pro. SSO, audit log , and hands-on migration require Full Service . Everything else is on every plan. All MCP tools, the full dashboard, snapshots, analytics, SEO, forms, brand briefs, sharing & ownership transfer — none of these are tier-gated. the questions you'd ask next Plain answers. What if a client has two or three sites I built for them? Each claimed site is $15/mo, billed together: 2 sites = $30, 3 = $45. Past that, especially with multiple custom domains, point them at Full Service . What if I cancel and have an active client site? Sites you own become read-only — they keep serving, you can't edit. Client-owned sites (post-handoff) are unaffected. Reactivate within 30 days to restore edit access; after that, the site drops to Free tier (subdomain only). What happens to a site when its owner cancels and never comes back? Site drops to Free — stays live on *.lanlan.site but loses custom-domain routing and the badge comes back. Domains they registered through us stay theirs (registrant info doesn't change) and they can point them anywhere. Do I need a card to start? No. Free is really free. The card prompt only fires on Pro or a domain purchase. Can I get a refund if I upgrade and don't use it? 14 days, no questions. After that we'll talk. How do you handle taxes? Real client work. Each recipe is a real situation a developer runs into when shipping a website — the prompt you'd give your agent, the tools it chains, and what you end up with. Same fictional client (Maya, photographer) the whole way down so you can read it as one project. + If you're shipping your own product or an in-house site, every recipe still works — you're just both sides of the handoff. Skip the invite the client step. Need to install Lanlan first? Two lines of config → 01 Hand off a finished site to a client. The site's done. The client should own it — the analytics, the form submissions, the Stripe, the domain. You want out of the loop without abandoning them. the prompt Invite my client maya@plumage.studio to the photographer site as a collaborator. Once she confirms, transfer ownership to her. I'll stay on as a collaborator for one week then drop off entirely. tools sharing(invite) → client confirms via email → sharing(transfer) → sharing(remove) What you end up with. Your client owns the site. They get the form submissions, the analytics dashboard, the Stripe revenue, the domain renewal notices. You can stay as a collaborator if they want help, or leave entirely. + Or your client can manage collaborators themselves from the dashboard once they own the site. 02 Import an existing site and rebuild it. Your client has an old Squarespace, Wix, or hand-built site they hate. You want their content as the starting point, not their layout. the prompt Pull everything from https://plumage-old.example.com — images, fonts, copy, structure. Build a new site at plumage-photography that uses that content but with a clean editorial layout. Same brand colors as the original. tools import_site → analyze_site → design_consultation(import) → update_files_batch What you end up with. A new site with the old site's content and brand DNA, in a layout you actually picked. The original site is untouched until you're ready to switch DNS. 03 Add a contact form that emails the client. The site needs a contact form. The submissions go to your client, not you. No Mailchimp, Formspree, or Netlify Forms in the picture. the prompt Add a contact form to the about page with name, email, and message fields. Submissions should email maya@plumage.studio. tools form(create, notify_email) → patch_file (drop
in HTML) What you end up with. A real on the page. Submissions stream into the dashboard and email your client directly. Spam protection on by default. No third-party services in the loop. + Or your client can create forms, edit notify-email recipients, and read submissions themselves from the dashboard. 04 Take Stripe payments on the client's account. Your client wants to sell something — workshop tickets, prints, a digital download. The money lands in their Stripe, not yours, not a connected-account routed through us. the prompt Wire Stripe to the photographer site. Connect Maya's Stripe account directly. Add a "Book a session" button that creates a checkout for $250. tools connector(stripe) → patch_file (checkout button) → live_data (revenue counter) What you end up with. Real payments to your client's real Stripe account. Their tax docs, their dashboard, their fees. You're not a payment middleman. The client owns the relationship with Stripe directly. + Or your client can connect Stripe and view payment summaries themselves from the dashboard. 05 Roll back a bad deploy. Something shipped wrong. The homepage is broken, the copy is off, an image is the wrong file. You need the previous version back, fast. the prompt Show me the last 5 deploys for plumage-photography. Restore the one from before this morning's edit. tools snapshots(list) → snapshots(restore, deploy_id) What you end up with. The previous version of the entire site is live again, in seconds. Every deploy is auto-snapshotted, so this works for any point in the site's history. + Or your client can browse deploy history and click Restore from the dashboard. No agent required. 06 Set up a custom domain (with SSL). You're done with the .lanlan.site subdomain. The site needs to live at the real domain. the prompt — buy through us Check if plumagephotography.com is available. If yes, register it for the photographer site. the prompt — client already owns it Maya already owns plumagephotography.com. Connect it to the site and walk me through the DNS records I need to add. tools (path A) check_domain → register_domain (auto-connects, SSL provisions) tools (path B) set_custom_domain → dns_records (read) (SSL provisions automatically) What you end up with. The site lives at the real domain with HTTPS. The registration is in your client's name. The renewal goes to them, not to you. + Or your client can buy domains, connect existing ones, and manage DNS themselves from the dashboard. 07 Add SEO and llms.txt so the site is discoverable. Search engines and AI agents need a sitemap, robots.txt, and now llms.txt. You don't want to hand-author any of this. the prompt Regenerate the SEO files for plumage-photography — sitemap, robots, and llms.txt. Then verify the page-level meta tags are populated on every page. tools generate_seo (sitemap + robots + llms.txt) → verify_site What you end up with. The site is properly indexed by Google, Bing, and the agentic-search clients (Perplexity, ChatGPT search) that read llms.txt. The verifier catches the meta-tag gaps you'd otherwise miss. + Or your client can hit Regenerate from the dashboard's SEO panel. Same files, no agent needed. 08 Add a blog the client can edit. Your client wants to add posts after the handoff. You don't want them editing HTML files. You don't want to install Contentful or Sanity for a 5-post blog. the prompt Add a blog to plumage-photography. The client should be able to add posts from the dashboard — title, body, hero image, publish date. Render them at /blog with a simple list and per-post page. tools collection(create with schema) → update_files_batch (index + post template) What you end up with. A blog the client can update from the dashboard like a CMS. New posts appear at /blog automatically. No code edits required after handoff. + Once the schema is set up, your client adds and edits posts entirely from the dashboard. That's the point. 09 Publish a draft for client review without it going live. You finished a redesign. You want the client to see it before the world does. You don't want to deploy a staging subdomain. the prompt Set the new homepage to draft. Generate a 3-day preview link I can text to Maya. tools page_settings(set_status: draft) → page_settings(preview, ttl_hours: 72) What you end up with. A signed URL that works for three days and shows the draft to anyone with the link. The public page is unchanged. No staging environment, no subdomain bookkeeping. + Or you can flip drafts and generate preview links yourself from the dashboard's page-settings panel. 10 Make the site installable as a phone app (PWA). Your client wants their site to live on their phone home screen and open without browser chrome. Most platforms charge $50/mo for this. You can ship it in one tool call. the prompt Enable PWA install for plumage-photography. Make the icon the brand mark. tools page_settings(set_pwa, enabled: true) → add_image_from_url (icon, 512×512) What you end up with. Your client visits the site on their phone, taps "Add to Home Screen," and the site installs as an app. Tap the icon, the site opens full-screen. No App Store, no review queue, no developer account. + Or your client can toggle PWA install themselves from the dashboard's page settings. 11 Migrate the design while keeping the content. Your client's content is fine. The site looks dated. You want to redesign without retyping anything. the prompt Run the full design consultation on plumage-photography. Use https://www.areaofwork.com as a visual reference. Keep all the existing content — just retheme. tools design_consultation(team) → capture_reference → analyze_site → update_files_batch What you end up with. Same headlines, same images, same copy — completely different visual language. The brand brief is now the source of truth. Every future edit (yours or the client's) reads from it. 12 Password-protect a page or the whole site. You're staging the site privately. Or one page is for an internal audience only. You don't want a login flow — just a password on a door. the prompt — whole site Put the whole plumage-photography site behind the password "preview42" while we finalize. the prompt — one page Set just /pricing to require a password the client can share with their VIPs. tools page_settings(set_site_password) or page_settings(set_page_password) What you end up with. Anyone hitting the URL sees a branded password prompt. Pass the password and the page renders. No user accounts, no login flow, no third-party auth. + Or your client can set or clear page passwords themselves from the dashboard. Twelve recipes. One install away. If your agent speaks MCP, you can run any of these tonight. Questions we get The things people ask before they try it. If your question isn't here, email us. We'll answer it — and probably add it to this page. Q.01 I've never used Claude before. Is that going to be a problem? + No. Most people who use Lanlan haven't either. Claude is an AI you talk to, from a company called Anthropic. We have a step-by-step setup page and a 2-minute video . If you get stuck, email us and a real person walks you through it. Claude is what we'd suggest, and it's what we use ourselves. If you already work in ChatGPT or Cursor , you can connect Lanlan there instead. Same product either way. Q.02 Do I need to know anything about websites or design or branding? + No. You don't need colors picked out. You don't need a logo. Tell us what you do and we'll make something that fits. If you want a longer conversation about your business — who you serve, what makes you different — that's the in-depth way. About 30 minutes with our Design Team. Also free. Q.03 What is a custom domain and do I have to pay for one? + A website needs two things, like a house does — a place to live, and a sign on the door. The place to live is hosting (we handle it). The sign on the door is a domain — like yourbiz.com . You don't have to pay for one. Your free site is at yourbiz .lanlan.site, which is a real, working web address. Plenty of small businesses use that and never go further. If you do want your own dot-com, it's about ten dollars a year, and we don't make anything on it. We handle setting it up. You can also buy your domain somewhere else (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun are common options) and connect it for free. But if you haven't bought one yet, we'd suggest buying it here, because connecting a domain you bought here is one step, and connecting one from somewhere else can be surprisingly fiddly (some registrars make it that way on purpose). Q.04 What does it actually cost? + yourbiz .lanlan.site is free. Your dot-com is about $10 a year. Pro is $15 a month for each site you put on its own domain, and only when you want what's in it (your dot-com connected, payments through Stripe, scheduling and live data, multiple collaborators, no Lanlan badge). The pricing page shows everything in plain words. Q.05 What's the difference between the quick way and the in-depth way? + Both are free. Both end with a real, live website. The quick way takes about 15 minutes — tell us what you do, we make smart guesses, your site is live. The in-depth way is a 30-minute conversation with our 3–4 AI persona Design Team about your business, audience, and voice — then we build from that. Start quick to see what happens. You can always do the in-depth version later. Q.06 Can I change things later? + Yes, anytime. Tell Claude what you want — “make the header bigger,” “add a prices page,” “warmer colors” — and it updates. There's also a dashboard if you'd rather click around without Claude. Q.07 What if I want to leave? + You take your site with you. It's plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — download it and host it anywhere. We don't charge a fee to leave. We don't make it hard. Still wondering Email us. A real person reads every email — usually within a day. support@lanlan.site Or browse the docs → --- ## Gallery card concept — browser chrome — Lanlan (/gallery-chrome-concept) Gallery card concept — browser chrome — Lanlan Lanlan . >_ Sign in Start Dashboard Lanlan . Maybe you've never used Claude before. Most of us hadn't either. No problem. Here's what it is, and here's what we're doing. Claude is like ChatGPT — an AI you talk to. It comes from a company called Anthropic. Lanlan is what we add to Claude so it can build and publish your website. To set this up, you'll give Claude permission to use Lanlan when you ask it to make a site. That's it. Three steps below. Or watch the video further down — Lani going through the same thing. 01 Make a Claude account (or sign in if you have one) Go to claude.ai and sign up. The free plan is fine for getting started — you can always upgrade later if you want more chats per day. Don't have an email handy? You can use Google or Apple to sign in. 02 Connect Lanlan to Claude Click Connect and pick the app you build with — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and more. It walks you through the quick setup. Connect Lanlan is a reviewed connector in Claude's directory. It can make and edit websites for you, and nothing else. You can disconnect it any time. Button didn't work? Do it by hand instead. In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors → Add Custom Connector . You'll see a box that asks for a server URL. Paste this in: https://mcp.lanlan.site/mcp Copy Name it Lanlan . Click Add . Then click through the sign-in window. Open Claude's connector page 03 Tell Claude what you want Open a new chat with Claude. Tell it what your business is. Be specific — "I run a hair salon in Atlanta called Bloom Beauty. I do braids and color" is great. Claude will ask you a few questions, sit down with you for a few minutes, and then it'll build your site. If you wanted the longer conversation — the sit-down with our Design Team — say so: "I'd like to do the longer sit-down before we build." Claude will set that up. Watch it once A 2-minute walkthrough, with Lani. Lani walks through all three steps above, end to end. Useful if anything didn't click on the first read, or if you'd rather watch than scan. Then watch this one Creating your first site. Once the connector's in, this is what comes next. A real conversation with Claude that ends with a published site — start to live in a few minutes. Or — slow down before you start. Ask Claude to bring in your Design Team for a longer sit-down. Three or four AI specialists, each thinking about your business from a different angle. They push back on each other and ask you questions before you build a thing. Meet the Design Team → Want more depth on any of this? Browse the docs → If you get stuck Email us. Really. We're small, queer-led, and incubated at Our Space , a community coworking space for women, nonbinary folks, and femmes in South Berkeley. We build for people underserved by generic tech tools: independent coaches and wellness practitioners, women- and queer-owned small businesses, nonprofits, mission-aligned organizations. Why this role exists We've started rebuilding websites for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations, free, as a first pass. The offer works and people say yes. What we don't have is enough hours to find the next hundred organizations, or to tell the story of what we just built. Lani (they/them, CEO) needs a day-to-day partner so we can serve more organizations because marketing is more fun and effective when you're doing it together. We invest in the people we work with, and we're excited to work with you! Every week Lani Marsden (they/them) , CEO and co-founder. Ex-McKinsey, ex-Gates Foundation, and a leadership coach. Started Lanlan because the tools for small mission-driven organizations were never built with them in the room. Your day-to-day partner. Juana Nantez (she/her) , Director of Strategy and Programs. Ex-McKinsey. Runs client work and delivery, and the person you'd learn the most from about how organizations decide. Around you Brittany Murlas (she/they) , Strategic Advisor. Marketing expert who has started and grown Babylist.com and LittleFeminist.com. Got her start at the UC Berkeley Public Service Center. Nick Martin (he/him) , Strategic Growth Lead. Serial entrepreneur and social impact thought leader. Runs our organizational business development. What you'd do Half of this is finding and reaching the organizations we want to work with. Half is telling the stories of the ones we've built for. 1. Find the organizations Build target lists of Bay Area nonprofits and small businesses, with the named person who owns the website, plus the networks worth partnering with. You'd do this with AI and we'll teach you how (a real skill!). Over time, we could expand focus to other areas. Draft outreach for Lani to send, and track to dos and next steps. Over time, you'd grow into sending it yourself. 2. Tell our stories Own Lanlan's social presence on the organizational side, mostly LinkedIn and Instagram, in a voice that sounds like us. Warm, direct, no jargon. Turn rebuilds into case studies: what was broken, what changed, what it took. Use that content for our website and socials. Later, if it's a fit Events. Nonprofit meetups, Chamber of Commerce mixers, and meetups across the East Bay, working alongside Lani and Juana. Something to grow into, not a month-one expectation. What this role doesn't own You wouldn't own partnership relationships, pricing conversations, or client delivery. Those stay with Lani and Juana. You make their hours count for more. What we're looking for Some experience in marketing, communications, social media, community-building, or organizing. One to three years, or equivalent work you can show us. Students welcome. A good writer. You can be warm and clear without corporate-speak. Conscientious. You do what you said you'd do, and you say early when you can't. Proactive and comfortable with ambiguity. You bring ideas rather than wait for a list. Based in Berkeley or the East Bay, up for in-person work every other week. Bonus: you know the nonprofit, coaching, wellness, or social impact world from the inside. Terms Paid , $30 to $35 an hour depending on experience, plus a bonus when we close organizational deals: $250 when we close three during your term, and another $500 when we close five. Around 8 hours a week, flexible, with a standing in-person session when we can. Three months to start , with the option to extend based on fit and traction. And if it's working, we'd want to grow it with you. As we grow we'd be open to raising the rate, changing the compensation model, or discussing a small amount of equity. No number promised today, but the conversation is on the table. Applications are closed. Thank you to everyone who applied. We read every note and we're getting back to each of you personally. If you'd like to stay in Lanlan's orbit, follow along at lanlan.site , or build yourself a site and tell us what you think. --- ## Rebuild your website — a free first pass | Lanlan (/nick-rebuilds) Rebuild your website — a free first pass | Lanlan Lanlan . Q.01 What's a domain, and what's hosting? + Hosting is where your site actually lives , the storefront. That's what Lanlan does, and it's what you're paying us for. A domain is your address , like yourbiz .com or yourbiz .org, the sign on the door. You can buy one right here in Lanlan , or connect one you bought somewhere else. On the free plan, you get hosting plus a yourbiz.lanlan.site address, so you don't need a domain at all until you want one. Q.02 What am I actually paying for with Pro? + Hosting, plus everything in the table above: your own domain connected for you, payments and donations through Stripe, scheduling and waitlists, multiple collaborators, and the "Made with Lanlan" note gone. $15 a month for each site on its own domain, or $180 a year. Most builders charge per site and put payments or dynamic content behind higher tiers. With Lanlan, one price gets the whole tool, with no transaction fees on top of Stripe and no ads. The domain is separate, about $10 a year, and we don't make anything on it. Q.03 Where do I get a domain? + Buy it right here. Search for the name you want inside Lanlan, pay, and it connects itself — no DNS records to copy, paste, or get wrong. You don't need an account anywhere else. We don't mark it up: you pay what the registrar charges, plus their small connection fee. Or bring one you already own. Bought it years ago at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google? Point it at your site and you're done, with nothing extra to pay us for it. And it doesn't have to be a .com. .org, .co, .studio, .ca, .uk — whatever ending you like. Prices vary by ending, usually $10–20 a year. Q.04 Do I need a credit card to start? + No. The free site needs no card. You only pay when you want your own domain or Pro. Q.05 What if I just want the free version? + Go for it. It's a real site, fast and secure, on a global network. The only difference is the address ( yourbiz .lanlan.site instead of yourbiz .com) and a small "Made with Lanlan" note in the footer. Plenty of businesses are perfectly happy there. Q.06 Can I cancel? + Yes, one click, no walls. Your free site keeps working, you just lose the paid features. You can also export your whole site as files and take it anywhere. Ready when you are. Real conversations Or read the back-and-forth. Typos, false starts, and "yeah but a little more" kept in. This is what it looks like when it works. 01 For your coaching practice A consulting site that finally feels like you. Lani had a consulting site that was fine — but not theirs. A professional rebuild on Lanlan that kept the work and changed everything else. L Hi Claude, I want to build a coaching website for my business, Lani Marsden Coaching & Consulting. I serve diverse women and queer folks. I have a current Squarespace site so can pull content from that but I want to make it better. Here's what the home page looks like now, plus the about page, work with me page, and contact page. I like blue and green, love water. From Hawaii and LA. I want people to feel held and seen exactly as they are. C What a beautiful site to work from. Before I start building, a few quick questions. How much do you want to evolve the visual design? Refresh it — same vibe, more polished Which pages first? Just give me your recommendations first C Here's what I'd polish before we build anything. On design: a warmer humanist type pairing, one accent color — soft teal or seafoam to bring in the Hawaii/water connection. Your coastal photography is gorgeous; I'd use it as textured overlays, not just backgrounds. On copy: the hero headline "Let Your Whole Self Shine" is lovely but a little passive. Something more action-oriented would better reflect the energy. Name women and queer folks directly in the subhead so your people feel immediately seen. On pages: build Home first, then Work With Me — that's where conversions happen. Ready to go? L Love the design idea but also want to see what you'd recommend if you did a whole total redo from scratch. Copy recs — can we do those later actually? I want to think about them. Sounds good on starting with the home page. C Perfect — let's focus purely on design for now and save copy for later. I'll build you two complete home page designs to compare: a polished refresh of your current direction, and a bold reimagining from scratch. Give me a moment. Built from a real working chat — design first, copy when you're ready. You can always change direction mid-conversation. That's the whole thing. See lanimarsden.com → 02 For the place you love An ode to the park down the street. Will wanted a website for a small park in Berkeley he loves. He didn't tell Claude what to build — just how to feel. W Help me design and create a new website for Willard Park in Berkeley CA. Make it a poetic ode to a wonderful respite and intergenerational gathering spot. Make it visual and whimsical. Think creatively on how best to honor this park. C Building a whimsical, poetic site honoring Willard Park. I'll start with original poetry — canopy, playground, benches, golden hour — and a soft-washed visual feel. Floating leaves, seasonal vignettes, a community visitors section. Want me to research the park's actual history and add real imagery, or keep this as a more abstract reverie? W This is a good start, but can you find imagery? Can you trace the history of the park? The surrounding area? Any fun facts or trivia? Notable people or events, references in pop culture? Build it on Lanlan. C Pulled it all in. The 1969 Vietnam-era renaming to "Ho Chi Minh Park," the Bastille Day march to People's Park with wire cutters baked into bread, the tear-gassing of Willard schoolchildren, the 1971 dedication, the 1982 naming for Frances Willard (suffragist, first woman in Statuary Hall), the 1990s volunteer renovation — 5,000 hours in 88 days. Live at willard-park.lanlan.site. A poetic ode and a community archive — not a business, not a service, just love for a place made public. Built by neighbors, for neighbors. See Willard Park → 03 For something you want to stick to A bedtime tracker, with rewards. An adult sticker chart. Two weeks earns a counter salad daytrip. Thirty days earns the family a hot pot dinner. W I'm trying to adhere to an 11pm bedtime every night. Think of this as an adult sticker chart. If I go two weeks with one grace evening, I get a daytrip counter salad. If I go 30 days, the whole family gets to go to hai di lao hot pot. W Password protect it with a relevant easy to remember password. Make this stunningly beautiful — like that Chrome extension that was crazy popular, but all it did was tell the time in a beautiful background when opening a new tab. C The Momentum aesthetic — full-bleed nature photography, big elegant clock. One-tap check-in each night: moon (made it by 11) or star (grace night). Confetti when you log a moon. Reward progress bars track both milestones. Password: goodnight . Live at lights-out.lanlan.site. W Can you add an install banner? C Done. Frosted glass at the bottom of the screen — add it to your iPhone home screen, opens full-screen. No App Store, no review queue. Counter salad in 14. A real bedtime tracker that doubles as an iPhone home-screen app. Streaks, rewards, a sticker chart calendar. Made for himself, not for sale. See Lights Out → 04 For the family voice A cookbook hand-typed by the family. 124 recipes typed in the 1980s, photocopied, three-hole-punched, mailed to relatives. Claude asks back instead of guessing. W I have the family cookbook on an old site I made. Can you pull in all the recipes and build it on Lanlan? I want it to feel like the original binder. C Found it — the family cookbook. 124 recipes, 8 categories. Before I build, three quick questions: Aesthetic — Heirloom journal: handwritten serif, parchment, archival Modern editorial: NYT Cooking-style, clean & confident Warm farmhouse: sage/cream, hand-drawn ornaments, cozy Bold & graphic: big type, color-blocked categories, magazine Search & filter, random recipe button, print-friendly cards — All of the above Mine (Chester family) — keep voice, add an About page Just port content as-is W Heirloom journal. All of the above. Mine — keep voice, add an About page. C Scraping all 124 recipes now. Parchment background, handwritten display serif, warm ochre accents. Categories in the table of contents the way the original binder did them. A "random page" button, and a forking story so other branches of the family can make their own binders. Family voice preserved exactly as written. Live at chester-vestal-cookbook.lanlan.site. A binder a family typed in the 1980s, now searchable, forkable, and alive online. You're meeting three or four AI specialists we built — a brand strategist, a visual designer, sometimes a copywriter or audience researcher. Each one has a point of view and opinions they'll defend. They talk to each other about your project. They push back, disagree, ask you questions, find consensus. The conversation sounds like a real design meeting — except the specialists are AI personas. The site you walk away with is the one that conversation produced. Not a template. Not a wizard output. A real design conversation, for the kinds of businesses that don't usually get one. This page was built with Lanlan, in about an hour. So can yours. Worth Knowing · a Lanlan program Someone you know is worth knowing. We'll build them the website to match — on the house. Every week we pick one person — a small business, a maker, a cause worth knowing — and build them a site, free, the way it should have been made the first time. No catch. We just love doing it. Nominate someone Put myself forward The best websites aren't built by someone fighting a template at midnight. They're made by someone who actually cares about the person it's for. That's the whole idea here. How it works Three steps, in plain language. No forms to wrestle, no design vocabulary. You bring a name and a reason. We do the rest. 01 Tell us a story Nominate someone whose website doesn't match how good they are — or quietly put yourself forward. The story is the part that matters. 02 We pick one a week We read every single one. Each week, one story gets chosen, and we build them a real site — free, and made for who they actually are. 03 They get the spotlight They get a website made for them. You get to be the person who made it happen. And the whole thing becomes an episode of the show. Your good deed, redeemable here Put someone in the spotlight One week. One story. One site, on the house. Nominate someone Put myself forward Know a business, artist, or cause whose website doesn't match how good they are? Tell us about them. If we pick them, the only thing we'll ask is that you're the one who gets to share the good news. Your name So we know who to thank. Your email We'll tell you if they're picked — before they know. Who are you nominating? Their name, or their business name. What do they do? The more specific, the better — "ceramicist in Oakland," "grief counselor," "two-person trail-running brand." Where do they live online now? Website, Instagram, anywhere. Don't worry if it's rough or nonexistent — that's kind of the point. Why them? This is the part that matters. What do they make, why do they deserve it, what would a great site change for them? How should we reach them? Here's their contact — you can reach out directly. I'd love to surprise them — I'll make the intro if they're picked. I get it. Lanlan will reach out before building anything. This is a nomination, not a surprise renovation. No shame in nominating yourself. If your site doesn't do justice to what you do, we'd love to fix that. Your name Your email What do you do? The thing you'd want strangers to understand in one sentence. Where do you live online now? Site, socials, or "nowhere yet." What's not working? Be honest. Looks dated? Can't update it? Embarrassed to send the link? No site at all? We've heard it all. If you had the right site, what would it let you do? Book more clients, look legit to a partner, finally stop apologizing for the link. We can only build one a week, so most folks we can't get to right away. If that's you, send me a code so I can build it myself for next to nothing. Send it in ✦ That's a good one. We read every nomination personally. If they get picked this week, you'll hear from us first. In the meantime, the nicest thing you can do is just tell them. Here's a line if you want it: Hey — I nominated you for a free website build by Lanlan, because I think what you do deserves better than what's out there now. Fingers crossed they pick you. Copy this ✦ Good for you for raising your hand. We pick one story a week and we read all of them. If it's you, we'll be in touch to start. While you wait — Lanlan is the easiest way to get a site that actually feels made for you. You can start one yourself right now, and we'll still cheer you on. Start a site Worth Knowing — the show The story doesn't stop at the site. Every build is also a conversation. Our host sits down with the person behind the work — what they make, why it matters, who it's for — and the finished website is the reveal at the end. It's a show about people worth knowing, with a gift waiting in the last act. We love using it to put diverse makers, small businesses, and quiet heroes in front of an audience that should already know them. Episode arc How one website gets made — and the person behind it. The conversation → The build → The reveal We can only build one a week. Most stories we can't get to right away — and that's exactly why Lanlan exists. The point isn't that we pick you. The point is that anyone can have a site made for them. If we can't get to you, we'll make sure you can do it yourself for next to nothing. Ready when you are Know someone worth knowing? It takes two minutes and one good reason. The rest is on us.
