Questions we get

The things people ask before they try it.

If your question isn't here, email us. We'll answer it — and probably add it to this page.

Q.01I've never used Claude before. Is that going to be a problem?

No. Most people who use Lanlan haven't either. Claude is an AI you talk to, from a company called Anthropic. We have a step-by-step setup page and a 2-minute video. If you get stuck, email us and a real person walks you through it.

Claude is what we'd suggest, and it's what we use ourselves. If you already work in ChatGPT or Cursor, you can connect Lanlan there instead. Same product either way.

Q.02Do I need to know anything about websites or design or branding?

No. You don't need colors picked out. You don't need a logo. Tell us what you do and we'll make something that fits. If you want a longer conversation about your business — who you serve, what makes you different — that's the in-depth way. About 30 minutes with our Design Team. Also free.

Q.03What is a custom domain and do I have to pay for one?

A website needs two things, like a house does — a place to live, and a sign on the door. The place to live is hosting (we handle it). The sign on the door is a domain — like yourbiz.com. You don't have to pay for one. Your free site is at yourbiz.lanlan.site, which is a real, working web address. Plenty of small businesses use that and never go further.

If you do want your own dot-com, it's about ten dollars a year, and we don't make anything on it. We handle setting it up. You can also buy your domain somewhere else (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun are common options) and connect it for free. But if you haven't bought one yet, we'd suggest buying it here, because connecting a domain you bought here is one step, and connecting one from somewhere else can be surprisingly fiddly (some registrars make it that way on purpose).

Q.04What does it actually cost?

yourbiz.lanlan.site is free. Your dot-com is about $10 a year. Pro is $15 a month for each site you put on its own domain, and only when you want what's in it (your dot-com connected, payments through Stripe, scheduling and live data, multiple collaborators, no Lanlan badge). The pricing page shows everything in plain words.

Q.05What's the difference between the quick way and the in-depth way?

Both are free. Both end with a real, live website. The quick way takes about 15 minutes — tell us what you do, we make smart guesses, your site is live. The in-depth way is a 30-minute conversation with our 3–4 AI persona Design Team about your business, audience, and voice — then we build from that. Start quick to see what happens. You can always do the in-depth version later.

Q.06Can I change things later?

Yes, anytime. Tell Claude what you want — “make the header bigger,” “add a prices page,” “warmer colors” — and it updates. There's also a dashboard if you'd rather click around without Claude.

Q.07What if I want to leave?

You take your site with you. It's plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — download it and host it anywhere. We don't charge a fee to leave. We don't make it hard.
